Advanced Charging Control for Every RC Discipline
The Team Corally Ultra-X 80 is a high-performance AC/DC balance charger created for RC enthusiasts who demand greater flexibility, precise battery management and complete control over every charging cycle.
Its dual-input architecture makes the Ultra-X 80 equally suitable for use at home, in the workshop or at the racetrack. Connect it directly to a 100–240V AC mains outlet or operate it from a suitable 11–18V DC power source. With up to 80W of charging power and an adjustable charging current of up to 8.0A, it delivers serious performance in a compact and versatile format.
True Multi-Chemistry Versatility
The Ultra-X 80 supports a comprehensive selection of battery technologies used throughout the RC world.
It is compatible with:
Lithium compatibility extends from 1S to 6S, while NiMH and NiCd packs with up to 15 cells are supported. Dedicated Pb programs are available for lead-acid batteries from 2 to 20V.
This wide compatibility makes the Ultra-X 80 suitable for RC cars, aircraft, boats, transmitters, receivers and a broad range of workshop applications.
Precision Lithium Battery Management
Dedicated programs are available for charging, balance charging, fast charging, storage preparation and discharging lithium batteries.
In Balance mode, the internal processor monitors the voltage of every connected cell and regulates the charging current to achieve a more consistent voltage level throughout the complete battery pack. An integrated balancer is built into the charger, eliminating the need for a separate external balancing device.
The Ultra-X 80 also monitors individual lithium cell voltages during discharge. If an abnormal cell-voltage condition is detected, the process is stopped to help protect the battery.
Fast and Storage Charging Programs
The Fast Charge program is designed to reduce the time required to prepare a lithium battery for use. It prioritises faster completion of the charging process when the highest possible degree of cell balancing is not required.
For batteries that will not be used immediately, Storage mode brings the pack to a more appropriate voltage for long-term storage. Depending on the existing battery voltage, the charger charges or discharges the pack until the required storage level is reached.
These dedicated programs allow the Ultra-X 80 to adapt to the way each battery will be used, whether it is required for the next run or being prepared for storage.
NiMH and NiCd Battery Care
The Ultra-X 80 offers both automatic and manually adjustable charging modes for NiMH and NiCd batteries.
In automatic mode, the charger controls the supplied current while respecting the selected maximum-current limit. Manual mode provides direct control over the charging current. Adjustable Delta Peak sensitivity allows the charge-termination behaviour to be matched more closely to the connected battery.
Charge, discharge and cycle programs are available. Between one and five continuous charge and discharge cycles can be performed to refresh, condition or evaluate compatible NiMH and NiCd battery packs. The charged and discharged capacity of each completed cycle can be reviewed directly on the display.
Dedicated Pb Battery Programs
The Ultra-X 80 includes dedicated charging and discharging programs for 2–20V Pb lead-acid batteries.
The charging current and nominal battery voltage can be configured to suit the connected battery. This makes the charger suitable for compatible lead-acid packs used in field equipment, starting systems and other RC-related applications.
Always follow the battery manufacturer’s recommended charging current, as lead-acid batteries require different charging conditions from lithium, NiMH and NiCd battery technologies.
Integrated Battery Analysis
A dedicated internal-resistance measurement function provides additional insight into the condition and performance of lithium batteries.
The Ultra-X 80 can display the relative internal resistance of each individual cell as well as the total resistance of the complete battery pack. These measurements are useful when comparing batteries, identifying differences between cells and monitoring changes in pack performance over time.
For meaningful comparisons, batteries should be tested under similar voltage and temperature conditions.
Five Programmable Battery Memories
Frequently used battery configurations can be saved directly in the charger.
The Ultra-X 80 stores up to five battery profiles containing the relevant charging and discharging parameters. Saved profiles can be recalled whenever the same battery is used again, reducing setup time and helping minimise repetitive input errors.
This is especially convenient for RC users who regularly operate several different battery types or configurations.
Advanced Safety Management
The Ultra-X 80 combines programmable safety parameters with continuous electronic monitoring throughout the charging and discharging process.
Available safety functions include:
An optional external temperature sensor can be connected to the dedicated three-pin port. When the battery reaches the selected temperature limit, the charger automatically terminates the process.
Clear and Controlled Operation
The illuminated LCD provides direct access to the selected battery type, operating program, charging or discharging current, battery voltage, processed capacity and elapsed time.
Four dedicated control buttons make it easy to navigate through the programs and adjust the required values. The buttons are illuminated and provide an immediate visual indication of the charger’s operating status:
This colour-coded status system makes it possible to check the charger’s progress at a glance, even from a distance. During operation, the display continues to provide detailed real-time charging or discharging information.
An automatic cooling fan activates when the internal temperature rises, supporting stable performance during demanding charging sessions.
